  48. PURPOSE
  49.     KingFisher is a tool specifically designed to maintain and
  50.     search one or more databases for software.  The program permits
  51.     manual browsing, but offers a powerful expression parser through
  52.     which you can explain to KingFisher exactly what you are looking
  53.     for.
  54.  
  55.     The layout of database records for display is programmable, as
  56.     is the format used for printing and that for writing records to
  57.     a file.
  58.  
  59.     KingFisher uses a resizable GadTools window on the default
  60.     public screen or on a custom screen, offers the choice of both
  61.     smart and simple refresh windows, and supports proportional
  62.     fonts (including scalable fonts) of nearly any size.
  63.  
  64.     KingFisher supports more than one database, and databases that
  65.     are larger than a single disk volume, which are spread over any
  66.     number of disks to be mounted on request.
  67.  
  68.     Using advanced Client-Server Technology, KingFisher supports
  69.     multiple simultaneous users with a minimum of memory overhead
  70.     (as little as 25K) for each user.  An ARexx-based interface,
  71.     named RexxFisher, provides a BBS with the means to serve many
  72.     databases to many users!

  74.     KingFisher is localized.  Catalogs are supplied for Dansk,
  75.     Deutsch, Espanol, Nederlands, Suomi, and Svenska.  More are
  76.     expected as translators are found (hint, hint!)

  78.     Context sensitive and fully integrated AmigaGuide provides
  79.     help on gadgets, menu items, reference sections, etc. in over
  80.     150K of widely cross-linked text.

  82.     KingFisher comes with a complete, read-to-use database of
  83.     descriptions for Fred's "Fish Disks" 1-1000!

  85. REQUIREMENTS
  86.     With Fish Disk Database (1.5MB), approximately 2.2MB of harddisk
  87.     space is needed.  The program requires about 300K of memory to
  88.     run, depending on the size of the database index files and some
  89.     other factors.  Kickstart V37 (2.04) is required; V38+ (2.1) is
  90.     required for localization.

  92. COMPATIBILITY
  93.     Tested with 68000 through 68040 CPUs, V37, V38, V39, and V40
  94.     system software, Picasso II graphics board.  Enforcer and
  95.     Mungwall used during testing.

  97. PRICE
  98.     Shareware registration fee is $20(US) or DM30.  A registration
  99.     site in Germany is available for European users.

  101. RESTRICTIONS
  102.     The freely distributable, unregistered (EVALUATION) version is
  103.     limited to a maximum of two simultaneous users.  Register for
  104.     the full version and give your support for future development!
